skybridge - soma/cyrus , sfw, fluff (WIP)
"What are you doing over there," Soma asks from across the room. He'd just put away his jacket. When he only receives a grumble as an answer, he sneaks up to Cyrus to look at his phone.
..."Why are you on that app," Soma sighs. "That can't be good for you."
Cyrus swipes off the accursed website he was for some reason addicted to, then just gave up and shut his phone screen off. His reflection looked even more tired than he expected. "I know," he replied, defeated. He threw his head on the pillow so forcefully that it was almost as if he hoped it would knock him out for a day or two.
"Do you want to go out for a walk or something?" Soma offered. Cyrus was about to decline, but he was already reaching for his jacket again.
"I know a spot you probably haven't seen yet." he smirked while stuffing his flip phone and antihistamines in his pockets for the trip. "Come, it'll be nice."
Soma was a fast walker, but you wouldn't know it if you'd only ever seen him tonight. Cyrus was nearly tethered to the ground by his depression, physically fine yet moving his legs was still like trudging through a meter of quicksand. His boyfriend was gladly matching his pace instead of basically teleporting through Kamurocho like he usually did. Soma would slow down the rotation of the earth if it meant Cyrus could feel comfortable.
The convenience stores were abundant in the lively city, their colorful lights illuminating their faces. Usually Cyrus would just stop at the nearest Poppo's he could find, but tonight Soma suggested they stop at some random mini mart they'd never been to.
The floor was a bit grimy from being stepped on while freshly mopped and the only cashier looked just about ready to go home, but he greeted them regardless. Cyrus hovered around a bit before pulling an iced coffee out of the fridge and adding a strawberry sando and a tuna onigiri to it. He barely listened to the price it totalled to, but he kept a mental note that it was actually cheaper than Poppo's... fuck. He had to come back here sometime. He waited outside the store until Soma reappeared, nearly stumbling out of the establishment.
"Baby, can you hold this real quick," Soma spoke hastily, practically pushing a hot tea bottle and a steamed pork bun into his hands. The moment he grabbed onto them, Soma turned away and sneezed into his handkerchief, his body tensing up a bit on the last sneeze.
"Man, it's dusty in there then huh..." Cyrus reached in his pocket for some extra tissues, but Soma stopped him with a subtle wave of his hand. Soma folded up his handkerchief and put it away.
"Quite dusty," Soma admitted. "But worth it."
The two continued strolling around the city, passing by the 'closed' signs of pastry shops and salons, walking by seedy bars and alleys full of boarded up windows. Taking all the shortcuts that are suddenly easier to take with someone else at your side. Before Cyrus knew it, they arrived at a less cramped area, with bright and quickly moving billboards and taller buildings. A bunch of cars were still driving around at this hour, leaving thick grey clouds in their wake.
Cyrus immediately handed Soma a pocket tissue when the smell of smoke intensified.
"Thank you," he smiled under the tissue pressed to his face.
With his other hand, he guided Cyrus into one of the many high-rise buildings. He'd sniffed out one that didn't have a metal detector. The sole security guard barely looked up. Soma could fit right in at a place like this, if he wanted to. Cyrus knows that Soma would rather quit RK and join the circus.
The few shops in the lower floors were understandably closed. They walked right past them, made a beeline for the elevators. Cyrus hit the button before Soma could, correctly assumed they were going up.
Met with his boyfriend's questioning side-eye , Soma smiled. "I've been around this area before. Building doesn't close for another two hours."
"I figured, but the fuck are we here for," Cyrus played with his apartment keys in his pocket while waiting for an answer. He does like following along, being swept into spontaneous plans, but not without knowing a damn thing about them.
"There's a good viewpoint halfway up that's open to the public," Soma recalls. "I think you'll like it." he slides a hand through Cyrus' hair, then puts his hand around his waist.
It's a shame, Cyrus thinks, that there's a security camera in that elevator.
The two step out of the elevator, past the ash tray and the shoe-shining machine, and Soma beckons Cyrus to two big glass doors. They lead onto a wide skybridge with a sturdy glass railing and rainbow colored decorations.
Cyrus gasps and runs onto the bridge. He looks up and down, realizes he can see the busy street below him and all the different kinds of lights around him, and his pupils widen.
"Woah..." The idea that Soma had seen this view and immediately knew he had to take him here was such a sweet gesture that Cyrus teared up a bit. The bridge stretched out long enough and was high enough above the ground to give him that otherworldly feeling he always chased, yet it thankfully lacked the discomfort of a rooftop area. And aside from that there was no ceiling, granting the both of them the luxury of fresh air (well, as fresh as Kamurocho could offer.).
Cyrus reached for Soma's hand and squeezed it. "Kazuki... It's really nice up here."
"I know, right?" Soma smirked.
They stood there, looking at the city below them for a little while. They lived in a busy world, all the noise, work, and consequent sleep deprivation weighing them down. Cyrus was entranced by the metropolis Kamurocho was- that's why he was here in the first place, but it was all more beautiful when the sun set and he could retreat from it all. And this bridge painted a way prettier picture than his small apartment, where he was forced to stare out the window that was facing some other guy's window.
Soma reached into his pockets for his tea and steamed bun. "We should eat, it's gonna get cold otherwise."
Cyrus politely nibbled into his onigiri while leaning onto the railing. Tempted, he glanced at Soma when he was about to bite into his curry bun. His gaze lingered on his lips, his sharp and pearly canines, his...
"What are you looking at, you freak," Soma laughed. "Eat your food."
Cyrus couldn't hide his smile with his fist, covered in the sleeve of his hoodie.
